The DRV2605YZFR is a haptic driver from Texas Instruments designed to provide flexible control of both eccentric rotating mass (ERM) and linear resonant actuator (LRA) motors. The device combines actuator control, feedback processing and haptic waveform playback into a compact 9-ball DSBGA package.
The DRV2605 supports an I²C-controlled digital playback engine and can also accept PWM, analog or hardware-trigger inputs. Real-time playback allows a host processor to send waveforms directly through the I²C interface, reducing the need for the host processor to generate dedicated PWM drive signals.
Its Smart Loop architecture provides automatic resonance tracking for LRA actuators, together with automatic overdrive, braking, actuator diagnostics and level calibration. These functions help improve startup, braking, acceleration consistency and overall actuator performance.
The device also includes a licensed Immersion TouchSense 2200 effects library with more than 100 haptic effects and audio-to-vibe functionality. The compact DSBGA package and low component count make the DRV2605 suitable for portable, wearable and touch-enabled devices.
